IHC 1086 fuel usage plowing

I know this is a bit of a loaded question but
what would a 1086 use for fuel per hour pulling
a 4x18 plow in medium-medium/heavy soil?

My fuel gauge isn't working and I just want a
rough idea when I should stop for fuel. Its got
dual tanks so I can't really stop and check with
a dip stick because I can't get into the second
tank.

Just my 2 cents worth but... I would fill the tractor tank full, go to the field with it for half a day then re-fuel it. That would or should be a good average of fuel consumption for that given number of hours doing a similar load. Happy trails....and of course your mileage may vary.

Most burn in the 5 to 6 gallon a hour range under a heavy pull if the pump is still set to stock (145 hp).

I can run 12 hours pulling 6x16"s in moderate to light soils on one fill at 145HP.

With the pump turned up it will burn closer to 8 gallon a hour at 180 HP under heavy pull.

Thanx guys. Tractor data said 8.5 g/hr at fuel drawbar load so I figured that was higher then I'd be using. My fuel tank doesn't have a meter on it so its hard to estimate that way. I doubt I will be plowing more than 8 hours a day so I should be safe filling up everyday

I use about six an hour in mine pulling 5 x 16 so ten hours
and i got to refuel you will get more I don't have the extra tank
