farmall 706 263 gas making strange howling sound

i have a farmall 706 263 gas making strange howling sound that coming from the front of the engine it comes and goes extremely loud.

also what kit do i need to convert this to a 291 from 263. plan on doing a overhaul this winter.
 
Check the water pump like said below and also check the fan hub bearing and also the gen.- alt. Case I H has the kit , but you will have to dig into your wallet as it is not cheap . But myself i feel it is worth it . Now there are a couple other things that need done when you go from 263 to 291 . (1) ya need a dist. from a 291 at the total advance curve is different and a carb off a 291 as it had a few different jets in it . Then the block will need bored to take the new sleeves . When i do that change over i hae the deck cleaned up and the contour bores recut so everything is dead on. Then i have the head dusted so that it is flat and true . Try not to remove to much . Then before you put it back together i chase all head bolt hole with a 1/2 x13 bottoming tap to clean them out and chase the threads on the head bolts so that they all turn free.and that you get a good set. It will make a whole new 706 out of it. Oh and also fit each piston to the bore and give .004 skirt to wall clearance as these new Cast pistons do swell big time . And you must run the 93 octane gas .
 
Vet,sounds to me like that conversion is going to open a very expencive 'can of worms'.Wouldn't it just be better to leave it a 263,and less trouble free in the long run?
 
Well it take a bit of work but the difference between them is day and night. and the plus side to this is that now when it is time for the next rebuild all the holes are all the same size no more a-b c-d bore classes . But maybe it just my way . as i have owned and farmed with both and given the choice i go for the 291 .
