W-9 Valve Cover Gasket

Can anyone tell me where to buy a valve cover gasket for a W-9(gas) tractor besides from some of the folks with NOS stuff? No longer available from IH. On the NAPA website, they didn't show it as available either. Thanks.

it may only be available in a valve grind set, parts are pretty hard to get for the 9. your other option is to by a gasket sheet from napa and make your own gasket. they have several sizes in pretty large rolls that would be enough to make the gasket. you could also try berkshire equipment in royal center indiana, they have a lot of discontinued and hard to get i-h parts.

Hi

Try Olson's Gaskets, I was able to get one from them for a WD 9. I thought it was good quality and the price was reasonalble.

Cheers

Russ

The NOS gasket I bought [expensive!] from a dealer was, for some reason, too small for my 1949 W-9 [gas] so I had to cut a new one from stock. I still have the one that didn't fit. Bottom line is: Roll your own.

I have heard that some of the really old gaskets shrink as they age. If you soak them they will expand, but I have heard that doesn't work too well because they will shink back down and leak.

After you soak them to get them back to the correct size coat them with grease. it will help keep them pliable and retard future shrinkage.
