Hi everyone, i am trying to get a clear determination on whether a tractor i have located is a 350 or a 300. See information below, i have had two conflicting points of view-I really appreciate your Engine block has the following-362743R2 C-169. The serial number is 16994 SJ. Chassis number 360486-R2. Based on the serial number a site indicated that is was a 350. However, based on other information, it is a 300. Sheesh. Conflicting information, can anyone help? |

| Why does serial number "16994" make you think it's a 350?
Both the Farmall 300 and 350 had a 16994:
If it's a 300, it would be a 1955 model.
If it's a 350, it would be a 1958 model.
The C169 *USUALLY* indicates that the tractor is a 300. However, the engine would bolt right into a 350 too.
After 55+ years, anything could have happened to that tractor... It could be an all-original 300, or a complete "Frankentractor" made from leftover H, 300, and 350 parts, or anything in between. |

| It gets confusing. Some late production 300's have 350 components. Then to add even more, dealers/owners painted 300's to 350 paint scheme. Both 300's and 350's where produced in 1956. Pictured is my 1955 300 with 350 emblems, pistons and paint. It also has the later "350" style fast hitch. The original owner bought it new in 1956 as a 350, rebuilt it once in it's life with a "350" kit. He repainted it just before I bought it. So based on that I suspect the dealer must have "converted" this 300 to a 350. Serial # 19xxx,engine-C169, and A casting codes (9/22/A) show it to be a 300. |

| thanks for the information. it looks as though it was white on each side where farmall was put. As i look through the 300 and 350, it seems that 350 is white and 300 was painted red? Am i correct? |

| Lots of those tractors have all the paint gone from the serial tags that said the model. Both tags are in the same place. Both tractors started serial numbers at 501 and both went higher than the serial # you posted. So you go by date codes and things found on the tractor.
I posted below one way to tell. Other things, 300 key start, 350 key and starter button. Rear light right side 300, left side 350. Don't see any holes in the steering support or hydraulics cover to change valves from single to double acting like a 350 would have. Clutch pedal on a 300 has a adjustable stop bolt at the very bottom. 350 has none. 300 used a keyed steering wheel. 350 splined. 300 169 on engine block. 350 175 on block. Most of the 300 and all 350 used the block cast # posted. My moneys on it being a 300.
Also the 360486R2 # is the casting # of the center housing. Before 300 production ended they were up to a higher suffix than R2. 350 will mostly be R5. Tractor serial would be a 1955 300.
Only a little over half as many farmall 350 tractors were made as was farmall 300 tractors. Both don't seem to be real high on the collection list of some collectors though.

| You Rock. you certainly know your tractors. I will look to reconcile it with your comments. i am sitting on your side of the fence and am leaning towards 300. If i want to convert it to a wide front end, do you think that this will work...see link below...http://www.dennyscarbshop.com/contents/en-us/d126.html |

| Based on the "C-169" I'd say you have a 300, or at least have the engine from one. |

| I dont think it makes much difference .Both were made just 2 yrs each.I see more 300s than 350s.The 350 is newer and 'fancyer'. |
