what parts come off first before I unbolt gov housing? after linkage

Unhook the linkage then the 5 bolts is all there is to it. May have to hold your mouth just right & wiggle a little to get it off.

if you pull the shaft/gear out with the weights on it be carefull to mark it so timing will stay good , stumper

DO NOT remove the gear assy as then you have a great chance of getting it out of time. If you have a dist there isnt any problem getting it back in time but if it has a mag different story.

Yes, unless there's something wrong with the weights, leave the weight/gear assembly in the tractor. There's no other reason to remove it.

The housing comes right off without disturbing the gear or weights.
