C123 vs. C135

Gentlemen,
I have been advised that a C135 engine is a "bolt
in" replacement on a SC/200 type tractor. This I
don't know so am asking advise. Also, could a C123
be morphed into a C135 by removing liners, boring
etc. This would be for a pulling machine. Perhaps
the wrong forum?
tks, dg

Yes, but why not use a 153 CID engine from a Combine, or Farmall 504. The bigger engine is sleeveless, but would make hay in a puller. Jim

Putting oversize sleeves and pistons in a C-123 leaves you at 132 CI instead of 135. The C-135 also has a longer stroke crankshaft than the C-113 and C-123.

The different bores and strokes for that family of engines are as follows:

C-113 3.00 X 4.00
C-123 3.125 X 4.00
C-132 3.25 X 4.00
C-135 3.25 X 4.0625
C-146 3.375 X 4.0625
C-153 3.375 X 4.25

Yes the block can be bored where the bottom of the sleeve and o-rings are then put the 3 1/4 sleeves and pistons in. Do you need to talk to someone who uses one.

Janicholson,
Tks for your educated responses. I consider myself educated further. Another Q, is the 153 from a 504 the same config in the utility model, or must the row crop version be used?
Tks again in advance,
dg

look in the archives, this has been discussed before, i don't remember the details but I think you have to swap oner some parts from the 123 to the 153, maybe front cover or something. Maybe someone will chime in who has a better memory.

A true 123 has a block number of 354898 R--. 3.25 sleeves will fit without boring giving cu in of 132.7, you can use step head pistons giving more power than the original C123. That is the simplest. C153 is essentially a C135 without sleeves.

Some pulling clubs will not let you use the C-153 block in a so called stock class.
I have one in my Super C and it is a little on the tired side and it will turn out 40hp all day long on a dyno.
You can get that kind of power out of a 133 cid engine but it takes a little tinkering.
