Duckbill F-30

Were there any F20s, F30s built WITH the duckbill, AND the FA serial number pre-fix, or did ALL the duckbills have the TA serial number prefix?

The TAs were factory built using the F20, F30 front half, and the Farmall Regular rear half.

TA series F20s (only F20) were made using a Regular rearend housing as IH had some castings left from Regular production. There was 661 TA series 20s. The TA comes using the Regular serial number but started at 135,000. One recently sold for $5900. They did not use F30 parts on them. An F30 is a differnt machine.

Not sure on Duckbill F20 production numbers.

duckbill 20's were made in '32 and '34 only. no F-20's were built at all in '33, dont really know why

normal f-20 duckbill's all have the FA prefix unless they were mid year 34's that have parts off regulars on them and they were TA serial prefix. 135000 to 135661

Please excuse me for being so uninformed, but what's a duckbill? This is the first time I hear anything about a duckbill. What do they look like. Inquiring minds want to know.

They acquired the nickname "duckbill" because the cover over the steering gears looks very much like a duck's bill. Only the very early F20s and F30s had this type of steering gear cover.
