Filter Quality

We always hear talk of filter quality.How some brands are junk,others are very good.Anybody ever checked?Cut apart a few different brands.Use the same # for comparison.I think you will be surprised.Steve

Thats why i get mine from Car Quest says rite on the box made by WIX.

I did a bit of research on this subject a few years ago. There is quite a bit of difference say wix and fram or, *gasp* STP (Cut one of _those_ open for a shock!)

I also found out the majority of the filters were made by Champion Laboratories and they do all kinds of private label. They will make a filter to your exact specs, good or crappy.

Also found an extensive test of air filters and to make a long story short, the K&N does flow more air and does so because it catches less dirt! Kind of a common sense thing.

I personally think WIX are the best currently being produced for old applications. For modern applications, cars, trucks, tractors, I would use the manufacturers own brand filter.
