F 12 wont start ideas please

My F 12 has always started fine as long as you don't flood it out. It ran about 2 weeks ago with no problems.

I went out today to start her up and she will not go. There is gas from the tank to the bowl side of the pump. I drained the glass bowl a very tiny bit of stuff was in the bottom.

I pulled it with the truck and still nothing. One time we choked it and it tried to sputter but never started up and then nothing after that.

I removed the needle for lack of the right name with the butter fly ears on it on the drivers side of the carb and nothing came out should gas come out of there when you remove that?

The mag clicks every time you turn it over just not sure what else to look for on it. Any help is appreciated.

stumpman, If it sputtered and tryed to start, you must have spark? Gas should be in the bowl of the carb. they is a little drain cock on the rear side of carb open that and see if you get gas out? Could be your fuel pump is not pumping.

Stumpman, If you remove the fuel line from the carb and crank pump you should get a good 7-8"
squart of gas each time pump is under pressure.
The drain cock is at lower back of carb bowl on carb. oldiron29

Just because the mag clicks doesn't mean it has a good spark. Pull a wire off a plug & turn the engine over. It should spark every 4th snap of the mag & jump a good hot bluish white spark. If it doesn't, clean the points & check the gap. .012 to .015 should be close. If the mag is hot, squirt a little gas in the carb & try again.

My F-14 one time was runningfine and when I shut it off would not start again. All fuel componets were fine, had spark at mag, but could not get it together. If pulled it eventually start. Finally discovered mag had burnt up my new set of plug wires. Them being new never checked them, over looking the ovious.Replaced plug wires took off on 2nd crank.

When you check the points, make sure they are clean. Run a piece of emery cloth through them. Once or twice each contact, and try her again. Also, are the plugs clean and gapped right. Lastly, are the wires copper core?

Do as Teddy suggested checking for hot spark from your mag if there's very weak fire or no fire check the mag's magnets for magnetism. Touch them with a screwdriver. Hal

Your not getting fuel. The butterfly ear thing is your carb drain. You did turn the fuel back on before starting didnt you. If so take off the line from the pump, crank and make sure its pumping, then work you way to the carb, taking lines loose until you find where its not getting fuel. I suspect one of the discs in the pump is stuck.

his seems to be the case. I removed the fuel line at the pump and turned it over several times still no fuel Then I tapped on the side of the pump and tried her again and still no gas pumping out. Is that pump rebuildable and if so how hard is it to tackle?

Thanks for all the replies on here.
