Wiring for M

I would like to replace the heavy guage cable that runs to the starter from the starter button, but I can't seem to find it for sale by itself. Also, I'd like to replace the cable that runs to the rear light, but the price was really high - I guess because of the flexible conduit that it should have around it.

I have seen complete wiring harness sets, but don't need all the others. Any suggestions?
As far as the rear light wire is concerned, what would anyone think just getting a heavy enough guage wire and then placing it in that plastic, split wire conduit that is common now on cars. Not sure of it's name.

The big wire is certainly available from almost any NAPA, or truck stop/repair store. The gauge should be 00gauge, with soldered on terminals. Shop for parts by description, not by Farmall M Take the old one in for length, not size (go with 00ga.). The other wire can be replaced as noted, and run under the edge of the platform, or in a piece of steel fuel line to keep it from damage where it crosses foot traffic. Stick on wire loom locator tabs will stick to cleaned spots well. Jim

If you don't like the price of the 00, ask for #1 gauge. The original cable size was #2, and #1 gauge is a BIG improvement. The #1 gauge is also a LOT easier to install, and is much easier to route in and around various obstructions for a much neater appearance.
