400 LP Head Update (see thread below)

I pulled the valve cover off and the head has the casting X2 70009 C1. I know this is not the sought after 450 LP head 364586 by tractor pullers but is this head a factory produced LP Head for a 400? The gas heads were 362174. I know IH used the letter C to indicate LP on some of their chasis tags. The engine is out of a 400 LP and all looks original.
Any info would be appreciated if anyone has some old parts books. Thanks, Buddy
 
Heard two different stories about that head.
One story was it was used on natural gas power units. Or its the last replacement head casting made for 6 size engines. By the C1 suffix the last story maybe more likley. I have only saw one and it looked like the gasoline size combustion chamber.
 
Also C264 engine serial # 161366 and higher came with the 364586 head. Before that the gas combustion chamber size was used. Can you see a date code on the head?

Slater is on the money. A true LP head did not come along until about half way thru the 400 LP production run. Learned this one the hard way after selling a guy a 400 LP and then having him find out that that was the case.
We both thought they all had LP heads, but they dont. Maybe RandyH will chime in abot it because he has the serial number range, the head nuimbers and a pic of the corerct head.
 
Did IH use a LP piston or something with a higher dome to increase compression in the early LP tractors that used the gas head?
