Can someone explain what the inside of a Farmall H fuel tank looks like? By using a flashlight I can see a baffle but I can't see how the fuel gets to the back of the tank.

It is $5 at Menards. If you only need a gallon or two it isn't too bad, but if you start buying a few more the price starts to sting a little.

If you are careful with it, and can manage somehow to pour it out of the tank and back into the jug, it can be used again. Maybe even several times.

I'm not sure how much it would take but a vinegar/water solution cleans rust real nice if you let it soak.

Has anyone tryed his inside a tank?

I've cleaned a couple tanks using muriatic acid. Takes very little time and the tank will look brand new inside.

Did you fill them clean up or just slosh it around for a while? Seems a little pricey to buy 20+ gallons of Muratic.

I did my MD starting tank, but that was easy to fill up all the way. It worked awesome for me.

I think I used just one gallon. Sloshed it around some, but also devised a way to stand the tank on end, and then the other end, and then on each side. The acid was fairly cheap when I did it about 10 years ago. Don't know what it costs anymore.

The gap at the bottom of the baffle was hard to see in my tank that was full of crud. Once I got it cleaned out it was much easier to see. I'm guessing it is only an 1/8" gap.

Yes, that bottom gap is VERY narrow. That is why I recommend NOT using sand, rocks, gravel, or any kind of hardware to loosen the rust in a gas tank. Any of that stuff CAN and WILL become lodged in that narrow gap and you will NOT get it out.

There is a very small gap at the bottom, and a larger gap at the top.

Not exactly sure, except there are gaps / holes in the baffles to let the gas flow back and forth slowly, prevent it from slammng back or forth as you move. The movement of 15 gallons suddenly might move the tank. The baffle is why it can be difficult to blast allthe rust out.

I think they are half circles on the corners.
