Tractor Ride push pole or chain

There is a 27 mile tractor ride scheduled on Sept 29. 4 hours and stop over at Methodist Church for prepared lunch all for $15. This is north Culpeper County in VA. I always carry a 3/8 chain on SH slung around the drawbar. I was told I should carry push pole in case of breakdown, because it's an easier format to tow. I don't plan to need it but I would be willing to help someone limp back in to Base.
Can any one tell me what they have seen before?
Thanks

I allways take a nylon 25 ft tow strap with a big loop on each end for towing another tractor or being towed. It doesn't hurt the paint and its light to carry. hope this helps. Kent

A push/pull pole is better, but it would only work if the tractors are hooked drawbar to drawbar. (one guy would be backwards) OR if you put a front hitch on your tractor it would work with both going forward. Problem with that is you don't want to pull a tractor too far like that because the trans will not get sufficient.

So IMO bring your chain and it will get your off the road. I wouldn't pull my tractor to finish the ride, but that is my opinion.

That push/pull pole works GREAT for loading a dead tractor onto the trailer. We use a pickup rather than a tractor for a little more control.

Carry a chain/rope to pull the dead tractor off the road to a safe place. Then go back and get it later. Not good or safe to tow it for a long distance.BTW,on our club rides we pull a 'hayrack' for the wives, children or anyone who wishes to 'participate'.We have a club member with a severly disabled wife. With a wagon she can come and not have to stay home. Also, the driver of the 'dead' tractor can ride.

I agree with what others have said, the chain you already carry would be sufficient to pull the stalled tractor off the main road to a safe place. Then come back later with a trailer.

I would carry the chain or rope on the ride, the push pole is much better getting one off or on a trailer.

when towing vehicles other than tractors we used a strap thru a peice of pipe to try and have a little better control.
