Call it interesting or hideous, this was the sixth place winner in the 4H/FFA tractor restoration division at the 2012 Kansas State Fair. It was completed by a couple of girls in high school ag class. I'm not related to the contestants, so any or all comments are welcome.

I am not going to ever criticize young
ones restoring old iron. Looks like they
did a right nice job on it and should be
commended for it.

I agree, It was lots of dirty work, looks cool, they should be proud. In fact, since my wife decorates and paints 25 hours a day, I think the girls should have had different shades of pink there.... maybe the next one.

VERY COOL!!!!

I suspect the young ladies are supporting breast cancer awareness.

If I'm remembering correctly the "Susan G. Komen for the Cure"
foundation was one of the original organizations that started using
pink for cancer awareness.

I've seen several pink Super C's and a couple 8n's here in TX
supporting the cause.

Will have to walk over and look at it Saturday. Sometimes the kids do a bang up job on them. I always enjoy seeing the tractors and implements they build and restore.
I'll be driving a tractor in for a friend for the antique tractor display, but not going to stick around with them all day. Need to wander the grounds some and get my annual Pronto Pup.

I only noticed the black wheels. I thought the pink was the normal faded farmell paint from 1947. Looks great. Jim

Those girls did a great job and its super they took the time as its not easy to clean and paint a tractor. like the black wheels they set off the project well.

we've all heard the talk about tractors in their 'chore clothes'. This H just got a new set to work in. The heart of the tractor is still IH. Nothing wrong here I can see.

Pink and Black was just about way cool in 1955, Ford even made a Crown Vic in those colors. Dodge had a pink/white/black car in 56. (Lancer) Desoto had one. ^Thank God Chevy 55-57 passed on it.

I looked at the thread on my phone first and I thought the same thing. It looked like a chalked/faded out Valspar paint job. I see it is pink now. Good for them, I don't mind it. There are plenty of by the book red ones.

I think the black centers are a little too black for my taste. I do like how they painted a few other things black to break things up.

That's cool. My SIL ask me just the other day if we could find a C or Super C, fix it (my end) and paint it (his end) pink for my 5 year old grand daughter. I told him no problem. I think she will like it! They live up the hill on the farm and she loves the animals and understands that we are raising em for meat. Loves tractor rides! It would be a working tractor not a show thing.

Speaking of that, the Kansas State Fair had quite a time with PETA this year... I look at it as "[b:27604865bc]P[/b:27604865bc]eople [b:27604865bc]E[/b:27604865bc]ating [b:27604865bc]T[/b:27604865bc]asty [b:27604865bc]A[/b:27604865bc]nimals".

Looks more like the working Farmalls of the 40's that I remember driving than the high gloss of some restores. I like it. Would be better if wheels were the same color as the body, IMO. Good job.

It's their's so I am ok with them painting it how they want...looks like a good job!Cool that kids (girls or boys are still interested!) Many of the folks here who may be tempted to squall about it probably have an ugly chebby alternator habgin' outta their nice red ones...that's worse! At least it's here where in general people are a lil less snooty and more friendly...posted my buddie's purple JD H on that board once...WOW still guys cleanin' their knickers over that! LOL

Well, I'm not going to look up all the details, but I think they sued the fair board to put up a booth and won. HOWEVER, the fair board made them show their videos behind a closed curtain because the fair board said their video was graphic. I think a lawsuit is still pending over the whole thing.
I didn't see their booth, but I didn't look for it either.

From what I see, they have a tent and the video can't be seen just walking by... not sure. I'm not going looking for it Saturday. From what I heard, both sides think they won... PETA gets to show their video and Fair Board got it "out of the way". I understand this is not the first place this has happened. Was an article in the paper yesterday or today, but I'm not looking it up either :) .
