My neighbor has a Super MTA that he uses to pull a triple deck folding finish mower and everything works fine. He also has a W450 that he tried to use and the hydrulics would only lift the rear center deck. We checked the pressure at the disconnect on the Super MTA and got 1550psi. We checked the pressure at the disconnect on the W450 and only got about 1100psi. Not sure if the pressure on the W450(double cylinder) should be. Have read about some of these losing a the prime but have not seen that discussed in the manual. The mower has a Pioneer fitting that does work fine when hooked to the Super MTA. Thanks for any and all help.

Most gear pumps should be good for 1500 psi, so I doubt you'll hurt the pump by turning up the pressure (not sure where you could do that in the 450), but it may be hard on the cam drive mechanism. Another thing to consider is "back in the day" they way underrated pumps, at least we did. If a pump was designed or rated for 2500 psi, we tested it much higher than that, maybe 3500 or 3750. If it has a Cessna pump, you ain't gonna' hurt it at 1500 psi, but as I said, it may not be good for the cam gear.

In more recent years, products were not under-rated nearly as much.

1100 is just a little low for a 450, and 1550 is too much for a 1200PSI rated system. Jim

I just put in an almost new pump on my 450...can you just put a "T" in the line and screw in a gauge that will go to 1500 psi? Also, at what pressure does the bypass kick in? Thanks.

I have a set up on my stage II super MD. I plumbed it though the factory hydraulic valve under the tank and ran lines though a 2 stick spool valve. I set the spool to 1500psi, However the factory valve kicks off around 1400psi at least on my machine. like Jim said 1200psi is factory set. If you want to check the psi just take a gauge and put it on a remote line.
