| The original Delco Remy regulator part number should be 1118780. Specifications for that unit as as follows:
Table 2T-Standard Regulator Tractor Type, Test Specifications (CIRCUIT A)
Regulators for which specifications are listed in this table must be checked and adjusted according to the procedures in Bulletin 1R-111. These regulators have an internal wiring circuit which is quite different from standard automotive regulators and require special testing methods.
All electrical checks and adjustments be made with the regulator at operating temperature and on a closed circuit.
If voltage settings are found to be within the ranges given in this table. the regulator is operating satisfactorily and need not be disturbed. When settings are found to be outside the ranges, the regulator should be replaced or, in an emergency, adjusted to the specified values.
Regulator Number 1118780
Service Bulletin Number 1R-111
Spec Number 1504
Voltage Regulator Air Gap .075 in.
Cutout Relay Air Gap .020 in.
Cutout Relay Point opening .020 in.
Current Relay Closing Voltage 5.9 - 7.0, Adjust to 6.4
Voltage Regulator Setting 6.6 - 7.2, Adjust to 6.9 |

| The setting for voltage is 7.2 volts to 7.5 volts with a fully charged battery at 2/3 throttle. The cutout should be set so pullin is just above battery voltage, and cutout is about 1 to 3 amps discharge. The gaps are important, but manufacturers use very different sizes, so there is no way to give that info. Jim |

| Jim, Is there a source for "quality" voltage regulators like ones made in USA similiar to the originals made by Delco Remy? It seems replacements are made in China or Mexico and being new out of the box doesn't mean anything anymore. I'm into a Farmall 240 restoration and trying hard to find quality items with limited success. I can have both the starter and generator rebuilt at a local facility who does remarkable work but he has a large inventory of original components for these older tractors. Any suggestions or places to contact would be most welcome, Hal. |

| My Car Quest dealer says theirs are made in USA and i have given him the Delco Remy Generator # and he has always got the correct regulator and they have worked there is no reason to set a regulator as they are set at the factory just make sure "one size fits all" arent used as that seems to be the case from the complaints on this board. |

| They are out there, as are solid state units that end the problem. Jim |
