Found out I'm not getting any (or very little) fuel out the line to #6. Is there a simple fix or is it a case of take the pump off and have it done? Thanks, Sam [Reply]   [No Email]

It is unreal how they can rattle when a nozzle sticks open or looses the pintle valve. If it ran more than a few minutes that way you can usually feel the heat coming back up the injection line on that cyl. I saw one where a guy ran it long enough that way the pipe was black. It was running on #6, the line was just so well stuck to the injector that cracking the nut wouldn't let any fuel out, after playing with it some it now acts like the rest of them. As to my knocking etc, someone changed the fuel filters (could have been me) and put the tops of the filters on with the air bleed near the bottom (in my defence it came to me that way very recently). I moved the air bleeds to the top, re-bled it, tow started it and after some smoking, fussing, and knocking it's now back to running half ways decent again. Thanks for all your help. pete 23 09-06-2012 18:53:46 74.32.238.2 Report to Moderator	Re: 460 diesel injection pump? in reply to tractorsam, 09-06-2012 16:19:13   Often times when one line is short changed for fuel the cause is the injection nozzle in the cyl preceeding it in the firing order on a roosa master system. In your case, if number 6 is not getting much fuel, number three cyl may have a badly leaking nozzle. This test would not apply though if you had all lines off when checking as then it would be pump. Easy way to tell if that nozzle is leaking bad is to take the fuel line off at nozzle and crank it over. The compression will shoot the fuel out of the bad nozzle. Good nozzles will not leak compression out. Not unusual for a nozzle to drop a pintle. [Reply]  [No Email]

When I first got the tractor here and got it running it had no throttle response but with a bit of exercise I had it running a lot better. I put new fuel filters in it and discovered the cannister were missing the pieces to seal the tops of the filters. I acquired a set of these and installed them last night. The tractor fired right up and then acted like it sucked some air and quit. After tow starting it it was smoking and knocking pretty badly and that was when I couldn't get any fuel out of 6.
