I just purchased an IHC 3444 backhoe. I would like an educated guess at the weight of this machine. Any help much appreciated. |

| Off hand i am guessing 12-13000 it might be a it on the high side. Normally i can guesstamate pretty close . with close to fifty years of hauling equipment . |

| | depending how you have it equipped anywhere from 8,500lb to 11,000lb. A solid 7ton trailer is needed to move one. Andrew |

| Myself i would not even think of putting it on a 14000 lb trailer . as i had a 3414 many years back and on my triaxle it was more then my Case 450 dozer . and behind a 3/4 ton truck it was the tail wagging the dog . Back hoes are top heavy and any movment in the hoe can and will get you into trouble faster then you can think BTDT. |

| | With my 7ton low boy I have moved a few JD400 and a JD401 (11,0000 and 11,500)hoes without a trouble, I would be more cautious or back away from a putting them on a high deck over. Andrew

| and this is why we have the DOT breathing down our necks . We have all done dumb things . But myself i at least like a little over kill as to brakes and pull power . And placing a backhoe on a 14000 gvw trailer is pushing it a bit , all is well as long as nothing happens like some idiot pulling out in front of you then slamming on the brakes to make a left turn in heavy traffic. About like me hauling a 510 C Deere three miles with my one ton and tandem dual goose neck , yea it hauled it or the 1570 Case with loaded 30.5 32's way more then i wanted they both pulled hard down hill and even with the brakes on my trailer plus the truck brakes no where near what was needed . Would i haul either one of them again - not on your life . Put them on a semi . |

| Thanks for the advice. I have an 18,000 pound trailer that I'll take along. I can take it easy and hopefully all will go well. |
