cracked manifold

My '50 M finally got washed and I realized the intake manifold is cracked. I guess not just cracked, but the runner to #1 is broken completely all the way around. It starts and runs OK, but I just don't like the idea. Dad has a manifold off of a Distillate M. Are they the same? Is there any reason not to use one( less power)? If it is a bad idea I will keep looking for one.

The distillate manifold will work, but the performance will not be as good, and really, that distillate manifold needs to be sold to someone who is wanting to do an authentic restoration on an original distillate M.

Aftermarket manifolds for your M are readily available from a variety of sources and the price is not outrageous.

OK thats the answer I was looking for (I think). That also answers what to do with that manifold and heat shield. The shield must have been taken off pretty early since it still has most of the paint.

I have a brand new aftermarket manifold for an M that I don't need! I also have a '46 M in need of a distillate manifold! I would be interested in working something out. Let me know.

OK, sent an e-mail to you guys. and we'll see what looks like the best option. thanks
