Farmall identification

I'm trying to help a neighbor identify his Farmall. It was on a farm he bought.
No hood or grill shell. Wide frontend, 550-16 front and 14.9-38 rear tires, gas engine, battery under the seat, belly hydraulic pump and a pump for the Farmhand loader under the battery ignition distributor , loader reservoir is under the gas tank plus one on the left upright, gas tank is a H or M style, inline power steering, belt PTO and rear PTO. I know it is bigger than an H and maybe bigger than an M.
Are there numbers somewhere to determine the model? I grew up with Farmalls but that was a lifetime ago.

Sounds like it could be a Super H or Super M. You can search the photo gallery on this site to find pictures to compare it to. There should be a serial number plate, I think it would be on the left side of the clutch housing.

The numbers from a casting (like the torque tube (clutch to tranny housing)will give both a date of casting, and a part number. The date forces an approximate year/model, and the part number can be looked up at caseih.com.
Date will be in the form of 4+17+N (plus marks are screw head impressions) The part number will be 5 or 6 digits with R2 or similar ending. Jim
