I would use a gasoline only head from an H, SH, 300, or 350. I would also put in 5000fT FIRE CRATER, (or other popup piston and sleeve kit) in it, and increasing the bore with thin sleeves. Jim

sorry im new to these posts. and posting. anyway your saying a regular farmall H- head will fit and work on my super H? i purchased this tractor not running and completly tore her down knowing there was a water problem yet knowing noth ing about this tractor. found when i pulled the sleeves the block was in great shape then had the head baked under suspicion that there would be a crack in cylinder 4 exhaust valve seat. sure enough it was a four inch crack and completly shot.

As long as your Super "H" is set up for gasoline, they both used the # 8043 cylinder head. These heads didn"t seem to have the cracking problem like the "M"s did, sold many heads for "M"s through 450"s due to cracking, but very few for "H"s.Small cracks,as the guys said, may not be problematic.

It is very difficlt to find an H or Sh that doesn't have some small cracks. Take them to a good head shop. The guys there will say go or no go. I had three magnafluxed and they had small cracks. I had a fourth one done at a different shop. It had small cracks. He told me he had rebuilt at least 10 heads with worse cracks and they were all still running well.
I do have an H head that is not cracked that I wouls sell if it will fit

finding a regular head isnt my issue. the head that was on it was bad enough to just sponge water (antifreeze) into the cylinders and drain past the rings into the crank case. i had the head baked and checked for $25. and sure enough just shot no fixing it. my question is would a regular H. head fit the super h. or re phase would a c-152 head fit a c-164 block. or would a 300 or 350 work? thanks Bill

Any head H-350 will fit on the block as I understand it, high dome pistons could have clearance issues in some cases from what I understand, especially if the block or head have been shaved.

so basically the only difference in a kero head and a gas head are the valve seats then correct? im not cheap by any means but the difference between buying one from another and my machine work are very different. if this is the case i could just use a kero head and have nickle seats installed. the super h has flat pistons anywho. so if your right then i might head that direction.

With flat top pistons about any H head will work if the correct length valves for the head are used. To have about the same power use a cast # 8043DC gasoline head if you don't find a SH 8043DD head. 300 and 350 heads work but all won't have the opening for a vent suction line in the head casting rear. They used a vent line out of the valve cover. No problem to get the valve cover with the head and use PVC hose from it to air cleaner inlet pipe.

The compression ratio of a distillate head is lower than a SH head. It is the same as a regular gas only H. You would loose efficiency and 5 to 8% Horse power with a distillate head. Flat top pistons can be replaced with domed pistons (originally for higher altitude) that will perk it up. Jim
