NH 66 baler stop tieing

I was baling today and the baler made loud bang and sheared pin. I see that the sprocket on the main gear box is not turning. There are 2 sprockets here side by side, the inside drives chain back to knotters. The outside sprocket is turning and drives the pick up. What can I look for here? I don't have a manual. Is there timing required on this chain. the needles are OK.

The chain may have jumped a batch of teeth, or one at a time for 5 revolutions. If the needles were in, Bang is the answer. Timing very much so. It may have sheared the sprocket drive internally, But I don,t have direct contact with that model, only earlier versions. Jim

Needles dropped into the chamber causing the shear pin to break. Check the break that hold needles in their home position. If it gets polished sometimes does"t hold them. Need adjusting. Just roll gear around to aligin holes and put in new shear bolt (proper grade) should be back in time. More info but you really need manual. If you need more info let me, think I still got manual out in the shop. Will look in the morning.

Needle break let needles into chamber causing shearbolt to shear. Pull needles out of chamber realign gears install a new shear bolt (proper grade) Check the break make sure it is holding needles in home position.
