A few weeks ago I picked up a Farmall B that needed a radiator. The fan had flown through the radiator, so I replaced both the fan and the radiator. I started it for the first time today and realized I have another problem.
The engine revs very very high regardless of the throttle lever position. So, where do I start with this? How do I slow it down some?
Thanks

| Thanks guys. The throttle butterfly was stuck. I knocked it loose with a punch and hammer. Runs sweet now.
Thanks

| Always best to look at the simple things like the linkage not moving which in this cause was caused but the stuck butterfly then to go to the hard like the gov. Governors almost never go bad all at once so as I said start simple when trouble shooting and work to the hard stuff |

| I would first check and see if throtle plate in carb is stuck and then check for stuck linkage. If none of them then you will have to go into govener. That high revs might be why it threw the fan before you got it. |

| First thing to check is that the gov to carb linkage is free and not binding up some place. Also make sure the carb throttle butter fly is not stuck so as not to be able to be closed. Also make sure all the springs are in place as they should be. |

| Thanks for the response. How would I fix this? There is a large screw on top of the governor housing, a large bolt/nut on the bottom and a small screw also on the bottom. These look like they would be used for some form of adjustments. Would any of those control my revving issue?

| Top screw is for hi throttle and the one on the bottom is for surge. |

| Sounds like the governor weights might not be closing down the carburetor butterfly. |
