Oil pan gasket

I'm getting ready to paint my Super C, after an on again/off again nut and bolt resto. I know I'll have to scuff the primer, since some of it's been on awhile. I used a cork/rubber oil pan gasket, and it is "seeping" oil into the surrounding primer. All the way around the gasket - about 1" above, and some below, I can see a faint oil stain. I'm going to try a new gasket, but wondered if any of you had any advice on this. Thanks

It sounds like it was simple high build primer. That stuff id not like paint and not like epoxy primer. Oils and WATER will work down through that primer to the metal. Sorry to tell you this but it all has to come of, then oil remover (Prep-Sol) then new EPOXY primer, then scuff and paint.
