I have a 2400seriesB tractor diesel engine.I have changed both fuel filters, drained the fuel tanks vented the system of air and it is no better than before. The engine will pull 2300 RPS in 1-3 in 4th it will only pull 1700 on a flat any uphill grade will pull it down.any help is appreciated.Thank you Bill

Three major things affect power in a diesel. The first is fuel delivery, and the second is air delivery. Suspect air restriction if the exhaust is smokey black. Suspect fuel delivery issues if the exhaust is pretty clean. The third is injection timing. If late, there will be harder starting, and poor power. Combinations of these are even worse. If the engine will run at rated RPM, the governor system is probably OK. Jim

Was there a full stream of fuel from the tanks when you drained them? Hal
PS: Injector pump may need rebuilding.

Thanks Hal&Jim.The fuel appears to flow well out the vents and out the fuel line that feeds the pri filter and secondary filter.I opened the banjoe fitting that sets on the pump from the sec filter, therethe flow is less. The engine starts easy and does not stumble or miss. The three position lever in the run position is on the positive stop if you move it a little the motor sounds like it's retarded. The air flow seems good(replaced air filter)and the snout is open there is some black smoke but not bad.I put some essentialube in the fuel and will see if that helps.Bill
