I have a 1965? IH 706 that originally was white in color it looks like. Any idea on why it would have been white?

When I paint it should I paint it white or red?

Thanks!

THEY NEVER MADE A WHITE DEMO or any other color Demo because they never made one The two main colors from the factory was I H red and cream and ind. YELLOW . NOW there were other colors used for the special orders as per customer request . So you paint it what ever color you want BUT NO DEMONSTRATORS .

What The Vet said. There were no 706 demonstrators. Your tractor might have been a special order for a municipality or some other special application or it could simply be white primer coming thru. It should be painted red with cream colored panels.

Also, if you're sanding paint the dust tends to hang in the tiny scratches that your sander made, and makes the paint look white.

Wipe it down with some naptha or gasoline and you'll see the real color.
