quickhitch check valve question

My 400 didn't come with a quickhitch but one was added over the years. Whoever did it didn't add the check valve so it wouldn't bleed down so I bought one. Before I put it on I took it apart to replace the O ring seal. TC-55 (Parts book) and the service book clearly show a O ring but this valve has no O ring anywhere in it, on it, or near it. The plunger has a grove that looks like the most likely place for the ring. Would it be safe to assume it goes there?

That is safe to assume that. The piston bore is directly connected to both ports so you need to seal that piston or fluid will just travel from one port to the other instead of to cyl and or hold cyl up.

Never had to bleed a QUICK HITCH

Maybe you meant a FAST HITCH
