New battery box for the M

Good morning,
My Mjust got a new battery box where there was none. I have had a group one battery on the M. The new box is larger, does anyone know the group size for the battery that fits it? The box came from OEM tractor parts and fits quite well.

Sorry Randy,

But it takes a group 3 battery to fill up the box. How do I know? Well my dad was too cheap to buy a group 3 and the group 2s he bought always gave us starting trouble. My uncle always got group 3s and never had problems.

I thought the M had a group 3 in it.Find the dimentions & measure the box.

Batter box is 12 inches wide by 7 3/8 deep. Height of battery if lid has bumpers about 8 inches.

Group 3 is correct for M/SM/SMTA/400/450E with 6 volt system.
