Farmall 400 Moves Then Doesn't

Hello everyone have a 400 farmall that when we shift into certain gears sometimes its fine then next time makes grinding noise and won't move then shift again then moves any ideas on whats going on?

If by "doesn't move" you mean it stalls the motor when you let the clutch out, then you're getting it into two gears at the same time. Common problem caused by a worn shifter.
