Have a ihc la 3-5 hp stationary engine. My governor to throttle linkage broke off Was wondering how to get the throttle shaft out of the motor? thanks brad

First off, the LA is not a hit and miss, it has a governor. I've never tried to remove the throttle shaft extension, but it looks like it has to come out the crankshaft end. I think I would start by removing the mixer to make sure that end is free then work through the hand hole.

A hit and miss engine also has a governer but instead of moving the throttle plate, it latches out the exhaust valve to make the engine coast until it reaches a lower speed then unlatches to make the engine hit and the cycle continues. Your LB engine is a throttle governed engine.
I have never seen the throttle shaft break, but what I have seen is the coupler between the rear shaft and throttle shaft in the head break. They are made of 4 small pieces of metal welded in the center about 1 1/2 long. It pulls out after the head is off.

There is a "Stationary Engine" forum here on YT that may help you out. They are slower to answer than this forum, but very knowledgable.

what about the throttle shaft in the crankcase hows it come out. In the crankcase is were my problem is the linkage that connects to throttle is broke. thanks brad

(quoted from post at 13:45:46 08/23/12) A hit and miss engine also has a governer but instead of moving the throttle plate, . . .
You are right, I should have said " it has a [b:d73ca9b522]throttle[/b:d73ca9b522] governor".
