Fuel in crankcase oil

Could anyone tell me what would cause fuel to get into crankcase on a diesel engine. I have noticed some blow by on the engine . Engine still has good power and no other problems I know of.

The injection pump seeal at the drive is worn. Depending on model and pump it is either real easy, or pretty easy. Make sure the engine is at TDC #1 before removal, do not turn the engine and keep the gear teeth in time. Jim

Can be the lift pump diaphragm. Try that first. Unfortunately wasn't the case on mine. Have the kit on order for the injector pump now.
Cheers,
Rex

That is not a 100% of the time solution. However, if you are getting case dilution in your injection pump that is then going to your crankcase it is.

My MD problems were caused by leaking/malfunctioning injectors. Rebuilt the injectors and no more problems.

Nobody asked what tractor this was. I assume it is a gas start diesel?

It depends on how much fuel in oil you are talking about. Fuel in oil dillution occurs every time you start up. It is worse in the winter when you crank the engine a lot. You always get some fuel, gasoline or diesel, that gets sent into the engine oil. Pump seals and bad rings are the most common problems when you have severe dillution.

well thats just it, no mension of tractor model. can be pretty much any tractor. leaking lift pump makes me think of cockshutt-olivers. roosa master pumps also on ih. gas start diesels less likely cause diesel can be drained off daily from oil petcock.
