My clutch is fine, but I have a radiator question. I need to replace my core. The original measures 19-5/15" x 20" x 3-1/4". I have not been able to find a replacement core that meets these dimensions. The first dimension (height) is the critical one to make sure connections match up with the engine. So far most of the advertised replacements have a height dimension of 20-3/8" up to 22". Not sure I have that much play in the connections. Any ideas from anyone?

Jason,

Would love to see you post some photos of your Regular here on YT! (Note if you are a new user it takes a few days to be allowed to post pics).

Husband and I have a 1931 Regular that we are (mostly he is) restoring. I have helped along the way with finding/buying parts and with getting anwsers to questions here.

Serial number 38517 was made in September of 1928. The Regular used the multi disc clutch up to and including serial number 34904. Starting with serial number 34905 they went to the single disc clutch. Because your Regular has the multi-disc clutch, I would venture to say that the engine has been changed at some point in the past. The engine serial number you will find stamped on a flat machined area on the left side of the engine block.

There are two different types of clutches for that year; a multi-disk clutch and a traditional single plate clutch. The multidisk has threepins about 1" dia equally spaced near the outside rim of the flywheel, whereas the single has a machined face for the clutch plate to be pressed agaginst.

Just to let you know, With the exception of the output shaft, the multi-disk clutch on the regular is the same as the one on a 10-20. Hope it helps!

You can always change over to the single plate clutch, just need to change the flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate and rear housing. The bell housings are the same.
