Pulling in the 10,000lbs class

Okay guys here we go, not wanting to start a war or anything but I'm thinking of pulling in the 10,000lbs in my local area. This class is usually dominated by a 4020, a 4000 or a 4030. I got a nice 856 w a brand new heavy duty clutch and T/a. I got a set of armstrong tires that I think will do good. Does the 856 have a chance on cement against the deere's?

I've done it with this in the antique class. It was only me and 2 JD 820s. I beat one of them!

First timer against pros dont stand a chance. If your tractor would be good in that class there would be some doing it. Save your tires and wear and tear. They without have the pumps turned up and more RPMs. Do you know how to do that to your tractor. When those tractors were new the 806 smoked them as there were those who knew how to make the Red ones go.

I pull in every class but that one and have good luck. I know how to make it go and to turn the pump up. I'm more worried about balance. The deere's seemed more balanced.

The Deeres are underpowered for their weight.

Thats what I'm thinking. I pull a 560 diesel in 8000lbs glass and usually top 3, But I didn't know if the 856 would float like a 4020.

Must have been some very weak JD 820s or the drivers had never pulled before. All 820s I have ever seen pull could pull this Farmall and the sled out the end. I have seen 820s get beat but usually by a hot GVI Moline or something equivilant. And No I am not a John Deere guy.

I have seen the same stuff. Would have to agree with Clint Evans. The good 820 Johnny Deeres are some tough rigs to beat. I have never seen one of the old big two cylinders run out of power in an antique pull. Now spin out maybe, but a good driver can keep a John Deere from spinning out.

On any given day anybody can win a pull. It is all in the hitch. Heck we have put many of the JD's to sleep with a Farmall. I especially like beating the hot G's with the old M. Nobody does it over and over in the antique pulls. I chuckle every time I see an 820 spin out in the soft track spot. There isn't any driver that can make them not spin out. Once you break traction , it is all over.
