Which do you prefer H vs 300?

Mowed a couple of acres with the brush hog and my 300 row crop today. My back started hurt a bit so I quit that chore early. So then I switched over to the H for some light loader work for an hour or so.

The 300 is setup with a wide front, power steering, live pto, working TA and 3pt with brush hog.

The H is a narrow front, 3pt, and a full hydraulic Du-All Loader.

I find it odd that I really like the H better than the 300. For some reason the H is more comfortable.

I think I may have to sell the 300 and get a M instead. LOL!

I don't know, I have had an H for a while and am now working on a 300 to replace it. The seats are different for sure, I have had three different seats in three years on the H and all have been a bit stiff, but the 300 seat spring seems very soft. I would think that other than the seat they are almost identical in the position of the steering wheel and such but I am not sure.

Wow, in my mind I would think the tractors would ride very similarly with a slight edge to the 300 because the wide front end rides better on rough ground. Plus the power steering. Same seat pan, same spring if the H has a Monroe seat.

The H has the old pipe seat. Lots of room on the deck for your boots. The 300 has the spring/shock type seat. The 300 used to have an aftermarket seat with a backrest. I should have kept it!

Interesting that you feel the pipe seat is more comfortable because I've heard from many that riding on that pipe seat is like riding on... the end of a pipe!

The mower and the loader are two different animals, you run the bush hog faster, probably over rough ground, the loader is run slower and probably not bouncing you all over the place. My 350 has a seat that needs everything replaced and is the most uncomfortable one I have (2 C's, a Super H, 460, Super A and an M (I just sold) Bushings, etc in the 300 seat probably need replacing to reduce your bouncing around, the spring may be too stiff. If both tractors had the same seat there shouldn't be much difference in comfort. Power steering should make the 300 considerably easier to operate than the H. It's the jobs you are doing, not the tractors.

Well, a 300 has lots more power, faster gears in the working ranges, live hydraulics and independent PTO, and for most people is a far more "user friendly" tractor....provided the tractor are in good working condition.

Ya, that old pipe seat can get rough. It was not much fun riding on rough ground.

My only complaints about the 300 are:

The IH wide front doesn't turn very sharp.

It doesn't shift as nice as the H.

Maybe I should switch to a heavier oil? (current is 80-90 weight gear lube)

Climbing on and off the seat on the 300 is not as easy as the H. (PTO lever)

Your main difference in handling is the front end. The tricycle is much more manuverable and better handling in my opinion. 300 has best hydraulics and if power steering, best steering, manuals are the same. Seats are personal preference. If it was a StageII Super H tricycle vs 300 I would take the SH. If regular H or stageI SH I would take the 300 and install a tricycle front end.

HMMMMM hard question.......I know, I'd take a 460 or newer and get rid of the H and 300......

Well you ask!
