| | sounds like it's flooded - that happens pretty easily. Turn the gas off - let the carb drip for a while. Try starting it with the gas still off. Might take a little while, but should eventually go. Try playing with the choke while you crank it. One it fires up, turn the gas back on quickly and you should be good. |

| When was the last time it ran? What have you done to it since then? You are probably overchiking and floodoing it. Next time you try to start it, pull the choke on, crank the engine maybe 4 seconds and push the choke full off, release the starter. Also don't crank long periods. Don't wait until it fires to quit cranking. Many times that little voltage jump when you release the starter gets the tractor running. |

| Pull off a plug wire while a helper makes an attempt to start the engine. Make sure your ignition switch is in the on position. Don't choke the engine. If there's no fire from the plug wire rub the points with some 320 wet or dry until they're shiny. Then check for fire from that same plug wire. Again have the ignition switch in the on position when checking for fire to your sparkplug. If there's no fire from the plug wire use a volt meter and with the points open and your ignition switch on check for voltage on both small terminals on your coil. You need battery voltage here if you have a distributor. If there's no voltage here you either have a broken wire between your ignition switch and coil or a bad ignition switch or there's no voltage to the ignition switch. Use your volt meter. To bypass the ignition switch run a separate wire from the battery to your coil then see if the engine will start. Hal |
