Hi there,
I'm new here, but I have a bit of a problem.
I was plowing at a local plow day and managed to lose the bearing cap/retainer off the tail wheel.
It's somewhere in the field. :(
I didn't know if anyone had one of if you could get them anywhere(probably not).
I'm hoping I won't have to have one made but that's probably where it's going to end up.
Does anyone have dimensions for one?
 
I would check with salvage yards. There were a lot of #8 plows made.

As far as I know, the tail wheel should be the same whether the plow is 1, 2, 3, or 4 bottoms. At least they look the same, but I never tried to interchange them.

The only thing that may be different is if you have a steel rear wheel or rubber. They may not be the same, but I'm not positive.
 
Try the parts places especially NAPA. I have yet to carry in a wheel that they could not match up the bearings, races and covers. I suggest you pull a bearing so they can get the number to match it up. Often the same cap works with each bearing set so that knowing the bearing number might lead to a new cap.
 
Post a want add in the photo adds or classifieds on this site or on Craigslist. Somebody will have a good used one for sale out there somewhere. Thats what I did a couple years ago when I was looking for the exact same piece! I have seen a few at swap meets and tractor shows as well.

That is probably not an option as even that straight roller bearing is not normally avaible anyplace anymore. I do have a place that can make enysize needed tho. The rear wheel is the same as on the rear of the steel wheel hay rakes and I think the hub would be same also but cannot check as no longer have any plows. But that cap is a screw on that is 2 1/4" thread and I think that is an option. I do have some of them.
