I am ready to rewire my 300. I did my H last fall so most of it should be the same, but the start switch system is very different. The 300 has an aftermarket key switch without the key and a small start button that is frozen. I am wondering if I should replace those items with new ones or get a on/off/start key switch. I am not concerned with authenticity, this will be a working tractor with a 12V conversion with alternator. I am just wondering what will be the cheapest and/or most reliable way to set this up. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you all very much. After my work for the day was done I just had time to run down to NAPA and get the parts. For about $80 I got two coils of wire, 3 12 volt lights, a 48" #2 battery cable, a toggle switch for the alt, a push-pull ignition switch and a small start button type switch. Now I just need to put it all together and borrow the battery out of the H. Rankrank, I traded the SC for a complete non-running H with a 3 point hitch and some money, so I will be able to get my money by parting the H out. I still do have that mounted plow, I keep hoping someone will want it but I guess there is plenty of time.

I did my M, 12 volt conversion with a keyed switch to make it "grand kid safe".

Thee key switch is a simple keyed universal one and the black momentary switch is the starter button. Added in if the Ford style starter relay. Works good and was cheap.

Any good on off switch and starter button will work or a key switch with a start position.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

Those momentary contact (starter button) switches are not expensive at all, and a guy could possibly replace the keyed switch with a simple toggle switch.
