I am having trouble removing the spokes from the rear hubs . the tractor is on rubber split rims I have the tires off but having trouble with the rims

Thanks for any suggestions

I'm having trouble visualizing what you are trying to do. The spokes would be riveted to the hub Slit style rims are generally bolted to a circle on the round spoke centers if that is what you have. If it is a shop conversion the rims may be welded on.

I have the Rims off I need to remove the cast spokes to get to the brake drums The spokes are bolted on with 6 bolts It might be 70 years of rust that is preventing them to come off

Thanks

Bill I have on accasion had to loosen the bolts about ONE turn and drive the tractor around, turn corners, stop and start quickly etc to get those hubs off.....of course you're gonna have to reinstall the rims before ya try it!!

2 of the 6 bolts are locating dowels usually. They are probably rusted fast. Lots of PB Blaster or Seafoam soaking, a large punch and BFH should get them. I have had the same issue. She"s 74 years old. Have patience.

so the spokes you are referring to are what most of us would call cast wheel centers. If so Aaron has your answer.

All Bolts are removed Nuts are off the locating studs Will try PB blaster What is Seafoam and where do you get it? How much force can you put on that cast spoke?

Thanks

Bill

one other thing i will add. the cast center is a very similar design to a 'hub piloted' rim you would find on a semi truck. there is a raised center area on the axle flange that sits inside a shoulder on the rim center. ive had some of those wheels i had to use a handyman jack parallel to the ground to push one of those rims loose
