Brass float in Farmall Regular

I put a brass float in my Regular and set top of float to the machined line in the Bowl.
The only way it will run is with the choke at half and the top fuel mixture knob screwed down tight.
Should that brass float be set differant then the cork?

Maybe below the line a little.

Ran with out dripping gas.
I shut it off by shutting off gas.

Turned gas on with out it running and doesn't leak or drip from vent.

Could I have a air leak between carb. and manifold?

The line is just a starting point. Every tractor runs a little different and you will have to keep tweaking it till you get it right.

your problem is that you have the main jet closed. thats the big round knob on top of carb. try it at 2 turns out and adjust from there. float level will not give you that problem. turn carb upside down and have a look see to make sure its sitting level. thats the way you do it. with the float 1 or 2 32nds from level wont have much effect on running tractor. but anyway thats why you need the choke out cause its starving, funny it even runs.

It won't start with the knob turned out. with it screwed down tight it runs and sounds great. you try to even crack that knob from being tight it will pop and die.
Same with moving the choke.
It has power at high speed and low with it set this way and starts good.

yeah, when I try to turn the main jet it gets loose and can wiggle it around and the suction tube that runs threw the middle of the card looks rough.

Yes I have had it apart several times.

The knurl nut on top has to be tight to run. If you try to back it off it won't run and is loose. I did get the stem out. somebody had brazed the bottom threads on. there is one hole at the bottom of stem that is open..
What about the fuel adjusting screw that has to be tight to run. "and it does run good".

wtk, Sounds to me like the float is stuck open or it has a hole in it.
To much fuel when you open the carb up. Did the knidle valve go in right when you changed the float. oldiron29

yeah, ill put the new suction tube in when I get it and mess with the float some when I do that.
there is no gasket between the stem nut and bowl is there?
