I have just purchased a 1975 1066 and am currently working on several maintenance items. I have tried searching several forums, without success, seeking information about the hydraulic and transmission fluid fill locations. Based on my search, I have found that to fill the transmission, one is to remove the filler cap located in the floorboard under the parking lock control lever. But, what about the filler cap located on the rear of the tractor above the PTO shafts? Are these filler locations just two different fillers to the same reservoir or are they different; transmission and hydraulic respectfully?

Thanks.....

All one in the same , but the one on the back is not factory as it was and add on . don't remember just who made them as a after market deal but they were a good idea for the tractors with a cab as the one in the floor plate was a real pain in the drain to add oil.

Would love to find one of those aftermarket hyd fill for the rear 1066. Remember see ads for them in farm mags years ago. The ones I remember changed out 3rd link plate. Came with fill tube and dipstick.

Just to be clear, BOTH fill locations put oil into the same place on the tractor. It's one large reservoir in there.

You can use whichever is most convenient for you.

Believe it or not, since I posted this request, I have seen three different local tractors, two 1466 and one 1066, all have this type of configuration. I did not know it was an aftermarket add on. But I would have hated to fill using the floor board. There is no room at all, unless you fill a quart at a time.

Thanks. Common sense was telling me that, but I did not know for sure. Now I need to find out why the fluid does not maintain its level. There has got to be a leak somewhere.
