706 gas fuel bowl

Hey guys Cleaned out the gas bowl on my 706 and when I put it back on it the gas would not run into the bowl, I backed up on the nut and the gas would run in and leak out, tighten it back and the gas will stop comming in. Put new gasket on it and it does the same thing. Have it tight and it will not fill, losen it and it fills up and run out.Any ideas on this? And also would it be better to do away with the bowl and go to an inline gas filter. Thank in advance for any all info. Running bear

That is the way it should be .That is a sign that you have a good seal on the sediment bowl. Just let it loose to bleed the air out then tighten back up. NO on the inline filter restricts the flow to much.

Thanks for the speedy reply. In the past when I would clean the bowl out it would always fill up and would not leak(as it does now). It will not run enough to use the bush hog. hit a bump and it starts to skip and cut off. I just though that it wasn't get enough gas because of the bowl not working right Thanks again I will look else where for the trouble now. David

Sounds like it's time to dig into the carburetor.

Well if it does not fill up then this tells me two things (1) the bowl gskt is not leaking and (2) the needle valve in the carb is not leaking anfd that the carb is full. Start the tractor and it will fill up , you do not have any other problems to worry about

thanks to all of you for your answers. I started the tractor up and tried to bush hog some more but it apears to not be getting enough gas to run. could be the curb. thanks again David
