Lower Transmission Shaft Coupler Nut

Hello,

I am trying to remove the lower transmission shaft and am having trouble remove the nut on the front of the lower transmission shaft. I have been told that it is a left hand thread. Is this true? Anyone have any suggestions on removing this?

Thanks.

One piece of 1/2 key stock welded to a 5/8ths nut , one half inch impact wrench . then you will have your vary first I H special tool.

My technique is stick it in gear and take a pipe wrench to the exterior. Standard counterclockwise to screw it off. They usually are not on that tight.

Thanks, to everyone for the information. I was finally able to get the coupler nut off of the lower transmission shaft. I was also able to remove the lower transmission shaft. When doing this I remove the rear bearing on the lower shaft and did not realize at the time that there was a
"ridge" or raised portion on one side of the bearing. Does anyone know to which side the "ridge" is suppose to go (front or back)?

Yep, and it works equally well for removing the matching part on the belly pump for oil seal replacement.
