Hey guys! Doing a budget build for an elderly lady from my church on a SH that has been sitting in her shop for a few years. Dont want to pull the clutch if I dont have to. What should I look for??? I have attached a few pictures. Also, will it hurt if I power wash up in there and get the clutch wet?

Ya can't "see" much up in there just by looking. If you don't want to mess with the clutch and it adjusts properly and it feels good... Put the cover back on and leave it alone.

Pressure washing will cause rust. Rust will cause the clutch to stick to the flywheel. Again, if it works, adjusts, and feels good, put the cover back on and leave it alone.

I agree with mkirsch. If the clutch adjusts/works OK (picks up without chattering, doesn't slip under load, releases fully), leave it alone. Simply give the throwout bearing zerk one or two strokes of grease and put the cover back on.

DON'T pressure wash the clutch! Water getting between the clutch disc and flywheel/pressure plate only causes problems. Overspray can also get into the starter and cause trouble there too.

If the clutch is working leave it alone.

I would pressure wash it.

Ignorance is bliss. No on ever told me that you shouldn't pressure wash a clutch.

I've pressure washed clutch cavities on all of my old Farmall's and so far no bad things have happened. Mine had so much caked up grease, dirt, and mud dauber nests that I think that was worse than the potential problems with soap and water.

I did pull the starters so I could run water down to help flush out from that direction.

I worked the tractors and got them warmed up to dry everything out before parking them.
