Part it out?

I've got a 1947 Farmall BN. 10 years ago, it was smoking & the gentleman I bought it from took it apart to do a ring job...the work never got done & it is now weather siezed....I've had it now for a while on my front lawn & I'm ready to sell it. I put it in the photo adds section for $550 & there is no interest in it....am I better off parting it out? It's got nice rubber all around, wheel weights, nice gas tank, radiator, fenders, drawbar, transmission, air cleaner, distributor, starter, etc, etc... it seems like a shame, but is that the way to go?

Have you tried any other avenues to sell the tractor? Ebay? Craigslist? Local papers? Tractor-house?

I know around here any farmall with a 3-digit price doesn't last long on Craigslist, regardless of condition.

Be patient, those front wheel weights are worth half what you are asking. And BNs are rather scarce. It hurts that you are off in the far corner of the world but somebody will be willing to make the trip

(quoted from post at 14:25:03 08/10/12) Kennebunk or Kennebunkport, ME. Summer home of ex-president G. W. Bush.

I believe they say former President GW Bush. You only have ex-girlfriends.

Kennebunk ( /ˈkɛnɨbʌŋk/ or local /ˈkɛniːbʌŋk/) is a town in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 10,798 people at the 2000 census. Including Kennebunkport (a separate, but adjoining, and often associated town), the population totals 14,196 people. Kennebunk is home to several beaches, the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, the 1799 Kennebunk Inn, many historic shipbuilders' homes, and the Nature Conservancy Blueberry Barrens, (known locally as the Blueberry Plains) with 1,500 acres (6 km²) of nature trails and blueberry fields.

Howsomever, as a former government employee working for the USMC, I am an ex-Marine.

Ya, I know "once a Marine, always a Marine". I just laugh when a retired Marine launches into Marine slang. I have forgotten all of it. I guess some never get over the experience.

And what about our ex's. They don't even need a modifier.
