Wiring a Cub

Let me first start off by saying I get wiring on the general picture. Here is what I have currently and it doesn't quite match up to a drawing I found for a farmall. 2ndly the wire that went from the light switch to the L terminal on the generator is taped off, why? I should mention it has a VR and a coil. All the other wiring matches the diagram I have.

Thanks.

I would imagine the L wire is taped off because the light switch is already getting power from the ammeter.

You could return it back to original wiring layout if originality is your goal, or you could leave it as-is with the "simplified" wiring.

The diagram you have drawn is of a 4 position switch. The wire shown as taped off, is coming from the switches First two positions (knob positions) L and H. it is probably not a very heavy wire. it was not, originally hooked up to the L terminal, it went to the F terminal of the generaator It is correctly disconnected, because the L H positions are not used at all with a real voltage regulator (as yours is). The L terminal on the regulator can be connected (with 10 gauge wire) to the fuse on the light switch instead of the wire now probably going to the amp meter. This will allow the gen to regulate the battery charging rate to be a little better controlled. Jim

Thanks for the explanation. It makes complete sense as originally it probably had a cut out which would have to be controlled by the operator, hence the H and L setting.

Thanks.
