f 20 need help

I have my granddads 37 f 20 its been stuck but i have that part fixed. now its time to remove the lifters, how do you remove them? do thay come out the top of the block? ( i have the head off ) thanks Bob

gotta pull the cam to get the lifters out, then push the pushrod tubes out the top. gotta do a lot of work to get the cam out though.......
 
well it looks like that the lifters will stay in. the push rod tubes has some crud in them. i think that ill just clean them from the top. thanks for the help. Bob

find a piece of steel or copper tubing that will just fit in the lifter holes, then duct tape one end if it to your shop vac hose. sounds pretty hillbilly'ish, but it works!

they only come out the bottom. the face of the lifter is about 1.5 times the diameter of the lifter body itself
 
On my 10-20 (similar design), I made a cleaning rod using an old push rod. My problem was that the dirt and crud was so caked on the lifters and hard that I could not adjust the rocker arms.

I cut the end off and ground away a portion of the rod to make a "drill point" and put it in a drill. Don't press too hard and check often for the metal-on-metal sound to make sure you are thru the Crud.
 
well ill work on it this weekend. friday iam going to albert city and see the show. saterday i mite go and pickup the doner f 20 i bough from a guy. Bob
