I have a 450 gas with what I think is a governor issue. I've had the carb of and cleaned it and all looks well. It will idle fine and pull itself ok in first thru 4th gears with T.A. forward and back. The problem comes when I try to go to 5th gear. It spits and sputters and simply will not pull itself at all in 5th. Seems like the gov can't seem to "find itself" and get it going. If I ride the brakes hard in 4th gear to simulate a load it has power to spare. Any ideas or suggestions??????????? |

Fuel delivery under the bouncy conditions of 5th. Possible junk in the float bowl, or tank pickup hole. Jim

Had the sediment bowl off and checked line and flushed tank. No obstructions there.

Assuming the little screen at the carb fitting is clean. I would screw out the load screw (Front bottom of carb) ine turn to see if that helps. If some better, 1.2 turn at a time. If no better, repost a new thread to get more ideas. Jim

I adjusted main screw out several turns over few minutes with no real change. Seems to load up at fast idle or high throttle but still won't produce in road gear.
