H Alternator

Lots of guys have made a new bracket and used the regular Delco alt . It just seems wrong to stuff a Hitachi or Denso under the hood on an American tractor ......
I'm sure one of them will speak up soon...

Hitachi 14231. Is the Model Number. "L" on the Hitachi is the same as #1 on the Delco 10SI. "S" on the Hitaci is the same as #2 on the Delco. Use the diode for the L wire with the band toward the alternator. It is an international tractor to me the origin of the best fit part makes no difference. (it could have Lucas stuff on it. Nah.) Jim

I use a 'delcotron' on both SH and SM.here pics of the homemade bracket on the SH.The SM is similar.

I have a Delco 10SI on mine which fits fine but is tight, the generator bracket is flipped over and one side of the alternator is touching the valve cover with a piece of rubber in between to keep them from rubbing. The hood latches all the way around and it charges fine. The Hitachi that Janicholson recommends may be a better choice, I just was not able to get one reasonably around here.

If you will drill a hole in the end shaft and tap treads in the shaft you can use the same pully as the gen adjust just like with the generator. I have have a super h that is fixed that way it is a tight fit but does work. Use a delco alterator just like pictured.

The alternator pictured is NOT a Delco 10SI.

Its some sort of "Delcotron" which at the very least is a different model of alternator. It's definitely smaller.

I used a Hitachi 14321 for mine because the Hitachi is smaller and it was easier to make fit with less modifications.

Whatever you do, don't cut the hood.

Hitachi, off a 1978-1980 Nissan pickup. You can flip and reuse the original bracket with allthread. The alternator completely fits under the hood.

It is either a CS121 or a CS130. The 121 or 130 is the size of the stator in mm. They are both smaller than the 10SI. They are not as easy to service since the stator leads are welded to the rectifier bridge instead of bolted like the 10SI. In most rebuilt units you will find the stator leads soldered instead of welded.

Delco. Turn the bracket upside down and a piece of 3/8 all thread. Same pulley and same belt. Easier than changing the light bulbs.

I got a Delco Alternator and it fits just fine but the spade connections has three wires, two very small ones and one larger one. Other hook ups have only two wires and am stumped as to how to hook this up.
