1941 farmall md

nice find. let's see some pics. early MDs are getting harder to locate. i'm not sure about the commonality of the bosch pumps on early models. i know bosch stuff on the gas start diesels is fairly rare though.

Im referring to bosch fuel system on the early mds... ill get some pics here soon want to get it cleaned up first. She's a little greasy lol.

So reading this thread I became curious. Perhaps I don't understand something somewhere. Boshe is German ( I Think), in 41 we were at war with them? How does that work?

Pearl Harbor occurred December 7, 1941 so most of 1941 was done before they bombed us, we declared war the next day. The world was different-anything coming from overseas came by boat, a slow one at that. This meant they kept a lot of stock in warehouses here. Parts and supplies came from Germany during the war through neutral intermediates (Swiss). Some firms had overseas subsidiaries in neutral or ally powers that dealt through the war. GM and Ford both had German business interests their ownership didn't terminate with the declaration of war at was a more drawn out process. IIRC they were ordered by Detroit not to make war material, they were ordered by Hitler to make war material, they refused so the Nazis seized the Ford & GM assets. Similar thing with Renault only the French didn't feel Renault protested and resisted the Nazis enough so after the war they took The Renault works from the Renault family and threw them in jail as Nazi collaborators.

American Bosch was born at the time of the war. No more German Bosch used in US until long after .
