Fast hitch mower PTO ?

Iv'e got my mower almost functional but I don't know what to do for a PTO shaft. The male end is there but I can't seem to find the other half. It's 7/8 square and I cannot find anyone who carries the parts to make one. Another idea I had was to make a complete new round shaft. Any ideas? Also it appears to have quite a lead off, about 3 inches ,is that normal? Tractor is a 200 w/ fast hitch.
 
If it is like the mower I have for a 300, the yokes are no longer available. I had to have a truck drive shaft company make me a new one with heavier duty yokes. If the yoke that connects to the gearbox has 1 inch left handed threads, the repair place that made mine used a 1 inch left handed nut and incorporated it into the yoke so I could attach it to the mower. They used square tubing to make the shaft and put another square ring around the end of the tube that tractor shaft slides into so it would not split out. Shaft works great! But it did cost me $250.00 to have it make with the parts and everything.

How's your welding skills?

In the left-handed nut scenario, I'd get generic PTO shaft parts from the cheapest source, and order a left-handed nut from Grainger or McMaster-Carr, and marry them together with the old buzz box.
 
If it's a standard yoke, and/or you can find a cross that will mate it up to a new generic PTO shaft, that's the way to go.

However, I got the feeling from Lynn's response that the yoke is non-standard.
 
Try "Billy" Knighten d/b/a Knighten Farm Supply,Shepherdstown,W.Va. @304-876-2648. He bought out my inventory when I retired,should have been some NOS parts needed to make up that shaft.Some of the 25-V,27-V,and 27-VA"s used that shaft as well,just longer.Hope this may help you!
